Spanish Government uses an interesting Spanish microblogging site to communicate their news
Spanish Government have been using Twitter since past May to publish their news and Agenda. Even they are suggested user for new Spanish users as @desdelamoncloa.
Since November, they also have created an account in Picotea.com, a Spanish microblogging site with very interesting functionalities, as {desdelamoncloa}. Now they are publishing their news from Picotea and sending them to Twitter.
This new was published in most important journals in Spain, like El Pais, La Razon or La Vanguardia.
I have been researching Picotea.com for a few months, and I have been surprised with its features (much more than Twitter) and growth.
For example, Picotea has groups and events with automatic hashtags. These groups and events have three privacy levels, public, moderated and private. With public groups or events, everybody can join and write. With moderated groups and events, only allowed users can write but everybody can read, and with private level, only allowed users can join and write, and nobody is able to read it.
Moreover, Picotea has conversation threads and re-posts (re-tweet in Twitter). It’s very easy to see who you are replying, how many responses and re-posts you have for one post.
Picotea has been synchronized with Twitter, Facebook and Friendfeed, users are able to post in four sites at the same time.
But one of the hidden abilities of Picotea is its way of working related to SEO. In twitter, when you create a tweet, you are updating your public page and creating a new one (tweet permalink). If someone reply to your tweet you will have a link to your tweet in his public page.
In Picotea, when you post, you are updating your public page and creating a new one. Like Twitter, if someone reply to your post, you will have a link in his public page but a new page will be created with responses to your post. If you get a re-post, also you will have another link to your post in public page of the another user and another page will be created, re-posts to your post. Finally, if your post was in a group, you will update group’s public page and obtaining a link, but if you post in an event, you will update event and group public page, two links to your post and user. For this reason, one post in Picotea would achieve greater presence than Twitter.
Very recommended!
